Steve Hayden will never forget that day as long as he lives. The air was pungent with freshly fueled jet skis. A bright sun reflected off the choppy waves perfect for extreme jumps and crafty turns. Though he was still healing from an accident, his mind was only on one thing: the finish line. The race is now a blur of jet skis tearing through the water, bumping each other to and fro. But what Steve does remember, was hearing the cheers of his family and fans, and his name being announced as the champion.
Right at the start of the National Jet Ski Tour, Steve’s dreams could have been gone forever. His accident during the first round of competition was horrendous, sustaining injuries from deep muscle bruising to severe head trauma. Though he was encouraged to quit, he thought about all the years he put into this one event. True to his nature, Steve pushed himself to the limit and became a champion.
Caught Up in the Wake
Even before he became a professional jet ski champ, Steve had a "No Limits" attitude. When he was nine months old, he was walking; at five, and six he was racing BMX bikes and motorcycles; and by thirteen, he was caught up in the wake of his passion for jet skiing. He credits his parents for instilling a great deal of confidence in him. They showed him how to combine a "dive right in" attitude with a levelheaded approach. To this day, whenever Steve sees an opportunity worth taking, he jumps at it.
All the Right Moves
After earning his degree, Steve decided to push the limits in the professional world and started his own business. "Being my own boss, I decide how far I can go and I never have anything standing in my way." Along the journey, he met his wife, Dawn, and they started a family. Nowadays, Steve enjoys taking his kids, Oceana and Jax, out on the water and teaching them all there is to know about water sports and taking life to the next level. He also enjoys fishing and soaking up the Naples Lifestyle. "The possibilities for a great life are limitless here." Steve says.
